Travelling between Spain, Portugal and Morocco
Early edition: these facts have not yet been reviewed by our editors. Check the sources before you book.
Within Spain
High-speed trains link Madrid with Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Zaragoza, most in about 1.5 to 3 hours. Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vigo are further from the high-speed core, so compare trains with domestic flights. Las Palmas is in the Canary Islands and needs a flight.
Spain and Portugal
There is no direct high-speed train between Madrid and Lisbon today. Most fans will fly (about 1 hour 15 minutes) or take a long-distance bus. Vigo is about 2 hours by road from Porto.
Spain and Morocco
Ferries cross the Strait of Gibraltar from Tarifa and Algeciras to Tangier, in about 1 to 2 hours depending on the route. Flights connect Madrid and Barcelona with Casablanca, Marrakesh and other Moroccan cities.
Within Morocco
The Al Boraq high-speed train links Tangier, Rabat and Casablanca. Fez, Marrakesh and Agadir are connected by conventional trains, buses or domestic flights.
The centenary matches
The three South American matches are on 8–9 June, before the main tournament starts in Europe and Africa on 13–14 June. Getting from one to the other means a long-haul flight.
Timetables for 2030 are not yet published; we will add match-day transport as host cities announce it.
