AFCON 2027 tickets: what we know, buying safely and the scams to avoid

AFCON 2027 tickets are not on sale yet. As of November 2026, CAF has not announced the sale dates, the prices, the official platform or whether fans will need a Fan ID. What we do know is how the last two tournaments worked, and what went wrong when these same three hosts staged CHAN 2024 in August 2025. That is enough to prepare, and to avoid the scams that will follow the first sale.
The tournament runs from 19 June to 17 July 2027 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. This guide covers what to expect, how to buy safely and the tricks to watch for.
What CAF has said about AFCON 2027 tickets
Nothing official yet. The dates are fixed, the qualifiers run until March 2027, and the match schedule follows the draw. Ticket sales usually open a few months before the tournament. Any site, agent or social media page selling AFCON 2027 tickets before CAF announces a sale is not selling real tickets.

How AFCON 2025 tickets worked
Morocco's tournament is the best guide to what CAF may do next.
- Fan ID first. Every ticket needed a Fan ID, made in the official app, one person per ID, with a passport scan.
- Official site only. Tickets were sold on CAF's own ticketing site, in phases, with a short presale for one card brand.
- Limits. One ticket per match per Fan ID, and up to four tickets per purchase.
- No resale outside the official channel. Unofficial resale was banned, and it led to cancelled tickets and arrests.
- Prices. Many tickets had a face value of 100–400 dirhams, about $11–44.
The launch did not go smoothly. The platform crashed minutes after it opened in late September 2025, and CAF postponed the sale. When it reopened in October, fans reported broken sign-ups, Fan ID codes arriving late and passports that would not scan.
What happened at CHAN 2024 in East Africa
CHAN, the championship for players based in their home leagues, was played in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in August 2025. It was a rehearsal for 2027, and ticketing was the weak point.

In Nairobi, the online ticket site crashed within minutes when sales opened for a later Kenya match, and the seller blamed bots. Before an earlier Kenya match against Morocco at Kasarani, hundreds of fans were turned away because their tickets had already been scanned: vendors outside the stadium had sold the same ticket to several people. Some fans then climbed the fence, and CAF had already fined the Kenyan federation over crowd control. Kenyan newspapers also reported that blocks of tickets went to politicians before the public could buy, and the country's football fans' association called for more open ticketing.
How to buy AFCON 2027 tickets safely
1. Wait for CAF's announcement. Follow CAF and the official tournament accounts, and our hub, which will link to the sale. 2. Make your Fan ID early, if CAF asks for one. Have a clear passport scan ready, and use your own details. Never let anyone else create it for you. 3. Buy only on the official site or app. Type the address yourself rather than clicking links in messages.
4. Pay by card, in your own name. Keep the confirmation email and screenshots of your tickets. 5. Download your tickets to your phone before match day, and carry a charger. Stadium mobile signal can fail when the crowd arrives. 6. Arrive early. Security queues at big matches can be slow, and gates can close once the stadium is full.
AFCON 2027 tickets scams to watch for
- Sales before the sale. Anyone selling AFCON 2027 tickets now is selling nothing.
- Facebook and WhatsApp groups. At AFCON 2025, tickets with a face value of 100–400 dirhams were resold for 5,000, and only the last transfer worked at the gate. Some fans who sent their ID to a seller later found it used in scam groups.
- "Ticket and visa" packages. Visas come only from each government's official site, never with a ticket.
- Lookalike websites. Check the address carefully. Fake sites copy CAF's colours and logos.
- Sellers outside the stadium. CHAN 2024 showed what happens: a ticket that looks fine, already scanned.
- Requests for your Fan ID or passport. Never share them. Your Fan ID is your ticket.
Buying for a group
If CAF keeps the AFCON 2025 rules, each person in your group needs their own Fan ID, and each Fan ID can hold one ticket per match. Make every ID before the sale opens, and collect the details your group will need at checkout. One person can then buy up to four tickets in one go. If you want to sit together, buy in a single purchase, because seats bought separately are rarely side by side.
On match day
Carry the passport or ID that matches your Fan ID, because checks can compare the two. Keep your phone charged and your tickets downloaded, with a screenshot as a backup. Bring small cash for water and transport home, and agree a meeting point with your group in case the phone network fails. Do not wear camouflage, which is regulated in all three host countries.

"Sold out" does not always mean full
At AFCON 2025, fans complained that big teams' games showed as sold out while some group matches were played in near-empty stadiums. If a match you want shows no tickets, check the official site again over the following days, as returns and new releases do appear. Do not turn to a reseller.
What a trip costs
AFCON 2027 tickets are likely to be the cheap part. Fans at AFCON 2025 put a month at the tournament at about $2,500, before flights. East Africa will not be cheaper: hotels in Hoima, Lira, Arusha and Zanzibar are few, and regional flights between the hosts are limited. Budget for flights, visas, insurance and rooms before you budget for tickets. Hotel prices are likely to rise as soon as the venues and the schedule are confirmed, which may be before tickets go on sale, so book a room you can cancel early rather than waiting for your ticket.
What we do not know yet
CAF has not confirmed the venues, the ticket prices, the sale dates or the match schedule. We will update this guide when it does. Until then, book what you can change, because tournament plans move. Our AFCON 2027 hub tracks every date as it is confirmed.
